Fully uninstall HTC Sync Manager on OSX

Perhaps you want to stop HTC sync manager launching at startup, or want to fully delete the app.

It took me a few minutes to figure this one out, so I thought I would share the love to save people time in the future.

Stop HTC sync manager launching at startup

  1. In finder click “Go”->”Go to Folder”
  2. Type “~/Library/LaunchAgents”
  3. Click Go
  4. Delete the file named “com.nero.HSMMonitor.plist”
  5. Alternatively, you could try typing the following command in a terminal window: “launchctl unload -w ~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.nero.HSMMonitor.plist” – However this is hit and miss whether it will work or not

Uninstall the app

  1. Simply drag the application from the applications folder to the trash!
  2. If you get an error saying the app is running, click the icon on the top right and choose “Quit”
  3. If you still get an error, open Activity Monitor, select the HTC Sync Manager app and choose “Force Quit”
  4. Once the application has quit, drag it to the trash

Hope this helps. Feel free to share your experience in the comments box.

    Thanks Nik!
HTC SM also made folders named HTC_MEDIA in my Music and Pictures folders. No useful data inside; can be deleted.

Thank you! I was trying to find another 3rd party program that WOULD work for transferring files from my new android phone to my macbook, and HTC kept popping up first whenever I plugged the phone in. Now it’s gone.
